Critics Choosing the Awards at the Critics Choice Awards

Not only did the stars come out, but the critics too last night at the Critics Choice Awards. The awards are based on the nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association. This year the top movie went to BOYHOOD. BOYHOOD follows the life of a boy for twelve years, though it sounds like a documentary, it is not, and it is an interesting take on life. Make sure to check out Movieguide®’s review here. Though BOYHOOD made best picture, BIRDMAN had the most wins, with seven awards.

Movieguid®’s pick for the Critics Choice Awards, UNBROKEN, did not win. Fortunately the Movieguide® picks that did win some awards were SELMA and THE LEGO MOVIE. The singer Common received the award for SELMA for the song “Glory”, to which he honored his father, saying he “can feel an angel around him”.

The Critics Choice Awards also honored Kevin Costner for a Life Time Achievement Award. Costner thanked his children, family, wife, and all the people who helped him along the way, from the drivers to the assistants, he was very grateful. Ron Howard received the ‘Critics’ Choice LOUIS XIII Genius Award’, to which he thanked his wife.
