Danica McKellar Talks ‘Swoon-Worthy’ New Christmas Movie

Danica McKellar is sharing her excitement about her latest Christmas movie as well as details about her faith journey.
“I love this movie so much,” McKellar said of A ROYAL DATE FOR CHRISTMAS. “It is a royal fairytale come true, and it’s really about second chances. My character is someone who has given up on love…it’s just such a beautiful story of two hearts healing each other and it’s just swoon-worthy — so romantic!”

A ROYAL DATE FOR CHRISTMAS is a light spirited holiday movie that lacks some plot and character development, which is common for this type of seasonal movie. However, fans of Christmas will enjoy the ride, which spreads Christmas cheer and stresses the importance of family traditions and finding the joy in life. There are some wine and cocktails drinks at a holiday party in A ROYAL DATE FOR CHRISTMAS, but nothing objectionable overall.
When asked if it is difficult to shoot Christmas movies during the summer months, the actress acknowledged it’s definitely hot, but “with all the Christmas lights and everything, you do feel like you’re getting in the Christmas spirit.”
She has previously spoken about the importance she places on making Christmas movies, telling Woman’s World, “I love putting positivity into the world.”
“I believe we are modeling aspirational behavior,” McKellar said of her work with Great American Family. “A lot of the stuff on television is pretty dark. These movies show struggles and dilemmas, and even frustrations, but everyone is trying to solve them in earnest. You don’t see people just trying to take advantage of each other. Nobody wishes evil or harm on anyone else. Everyone’s just trying to do their best. It’s so refreshing.”
McKeller also shared her testimony, explaining, “I’d been around Christianity my whole life in some way, shape, or form, but it never really clicked. And my good friend Candace Cameron Bure…she brought me to church, and all I can say is that something happened.”
“I was flooded with this love and understanding,” she continued. “I just suddenly understood.”
The actress told CBN she feels “so blessed” to be able to share her beliefs.
“People have said, ‘Oh, you are so bold,’” she explained. “It doesn’t feel bold. It doesn’t feel like it requires courage or anything. … When you experience something that is so beautiful and so wonderful and so life-changing, you want everyone to feel that.”
