Christian Artist Proclaims Power of Truth in a Culture of Lies

Danny Gokey explained why he works so hard to get people the truth and how he continues to point people to God in new ways through his music.
“I want to be a truth teller. You know, there’s no point in beating around the bush — not truth and love teller, just a truth teller,” Gokey told CBN News.
“We can sit there and protest gravity. We can make laws against gravity. You can cancel people over saying gravity is real, or fire is hot,” Gokey added. “But, the thing is…it is what it is, and we’re not doing any favors playing around and mincing words to make people happy.”
“We need to have the truth that sets people free. So, I do want to speak truth, but I want to do [it] in love, and I just don’t want to hit people on the head with it,” he continued.
Gokey achieves this goal both through his music and through the platform given to him by his music. He often posts devotionals on Instagram that challenge his fans and spurs on their relationship with Christ. His new album, meanwhile, which was released at the end of July, is helping listeners understand how the nature of evil compares to the nature of good.
“The enemy makes bad things look good and if we’re not discerning, and we’re not paying attention, and we’re not reading our scriptures, we can fall into the bait,” Gokey told Crosswalk. “Proverbs talks about the harlot, who says, ‘My husband is traveling, he’s taken a purse full of money, he’ll be gone, I’ve made my bed, come with me [and] lie, let’s fulfill our pleasures.’ And [it] says, little did he know that it was like a bull led to the slaughter.”
“Just because something feels good [and] it looks good — we sometimes don’t see the hook that’s destroying us from the inside out,” he continued. “And that’s what the song…and I wanted to address it because our culture is declining.”
The new album, “Sound of Heaven,” teaches this lesson and many more as it points listeners away from the world and back toward God.

Christian artist Danny Gokey is opening up about his new album Sound of Heaven and what he hopes his fans take away from it.
“This project was really unique. As it turns out, it’s the reflection of all the different sides of me,” he told Fox News host Shannon Bream. “It’s, you know, very celebratory but…it starts with a prayer, like ‘Lord, what do you want to write through me?’ Because God is the greatest songwriter of all time. He’s the greatest artist of all time. We’re His children, so I’m thinking, like, I’m going right to the source.”
Gokey explained how as he wrote the album, he noticed all of the songs sounded very different from each other.
“I knew that heaven was so diverse, and heaven is reflected with different sounds, so it all just came together,” he said.
