THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM is a Disney+ original series from National Geographic. The first episode debuted with the streaming service in November 2019, with new episodes airing weekly over 12 weeks. The series was renewed for a second season, which is currently in the works.

“When you explore the ordinary, you just might discover the extraordinary.”

– Jeff Goldblum, THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM

Actor Jeff Goldblum is best known for his work in the JURASSIC PARK franchise, INDEPENDENCE DAY and THOR: RAGNORAK. In his new docuseries, THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM, Goldblum gets in touch with his inquisitive side while taking viewers along for the adventure. Whether his journey takes him to a tattoo convention in Baltimore or NASA’s neutral buoyancy swimming pool in Houston, his musings are sure to entertain audiences.

Goldblum explores various subject matter topics by meeting with everyday experts and participating in engaging activities. Goldblum does not research and study the topics beforehand. In each episode the historical, philosophical, scientific, and psychological context of each subject are examined from Goldblum’s unique perspective.

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM is rated TV-PG. Some episodes contain mild crude humor and a few obscenities. There are about four OMG profanities. The episodes about tattoos and swimming pools each feature scenes with shirtless men. Homosexuality is highlighted and celebrated in three episodes. In the episode about denim, Goldblum meets with cowboys at a gay bar. Men are seen dancing together while singing “Over the Rainbow.” In the cosmetics episode, Goldblum explores make-up for men and attends a drag queen show. In the season’s final episode about jewelry, Goldblum attends a gay pride parade in New Orleans.

Because THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM is a documentary series, religious and spiritual themes are sometimes examined and referred to with regard to the subject matter at hand. The spiritual significance of Hawaiian tattooing is explored. While learning about different types of pools, Goldblum visits a float spa where Tibetan Buddhist spirituality is emphasized. Goldblum also attends an Indian Hindu wedding while exploring jewelry from a cultural context. Two episodes make brief references to Darwinism. Jeff Goldblum is not religious but does come from a Jewish background. In the episode about tattoos he jokes that he does not have a tattoo because of the holocaust.

Christians who enjoy studying End Times prophecy may be interested in certain parts of the episode about tattoos. During this episode Goldblum learns about how tattoos can be used to help people and samples a temporary tattoo that is placed on his right hand in order to measure sun exposure. For some, this may feel like a glimpse into the future and the Mark of the Beast depicted in Revelation 13:16-18.

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM does have many redemptive elements. While studying the individual topics he often finds ways to make connections that emphasize the beauty of family, friendship and community. Goldblum’s wife and kids also briefly appear in a few episodes. While traveling around America, Goldblum connects with and learns from a variety of interesting individuals. He meets with a family of six who have been traveling across country in an RV for over a year, goes cycling with a community of riders in Detroit, barbeques with firemen on the Fourth of July, attends a sneaker convention in Cleveland, and shares a new ice cream flavor with the U.S. Navy. The uniqueness of the experts and enthusiasts of each subject matter is celebrated.

Jeff Goldblum finds innovate and often hilarious ways to make even the most obscure topics interesting and exciting to learn about. While the episodes about denim, cosmetics, and jewelry are not recommended due to the nature of some of the content, THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM otherwise requires discretion for families.
