Elon Musk Surrenders to the Power of Prayer During Latest Project

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, said he prayed for the Dragon spacecraft upon launching, despite not being religious. Musk’s space achievements are certainly something to marvel at, but Musk’s recognition of prayer isn’t something to skip over, either.

“You know, I’m not very religious, but I prayed for this one,” Musk said after the landing of the Dragon back on Earth on August 2, 2020.

According to SpaceX, Dragon is “The first private spacecraft to take humans to the space station.”

The Dragon is just one of Musk’s many innovations to eventually take non-NASA astronauts into space with the hopes of living on Mars.

The Christian Post reported that Musk, who also invented Tesla and co-founded PayPal, “believes the recent space accomplishments represent an ‘achievement of humanity.’”

Musk added, “These are difficult times when — you know, there’s not that much good news — and I think this is one of those things that is universally good no matter where you are on planet Earth, this is a good thing, and I hope it brightens your day.”

Yes, the space travel brightens our day, but if a gentleman worth over $60 billion will publicly state his recognition of prayer, that brightens our day even more.

Scripture refers to the power of prayer throughout its pages.

The book of James tells us to pray in all seasons of life. The book of Romans tells readers to be faithful in prayer, and the Psalms consistently highlight the author’s desire to get nearer to God by bending one’s knee.

So although Musk isn’t religious, his comments seem to stir some hope for the faith community that he does in fact recognize something greater that his own efforts.

Let’s pray that the Holy Spirit would speak to Musk as he continues to explore God’s creation.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” – Psalm 19:1
