Ex-Witch Shares Why People Love New Age—and Why It’s So Dangerous

Ex-witch-turned-Christian Ashley Jones says people turn to New Age beliefs because they preach instant gratification.

“I think one of the fruits of the spirit that they have a really hard time counterfeiting is patience. The reason that people love the new age is because it requires no patience,” Jones explained on Maddison Prewett Troutt’s podcast recently. “You can get whatever you want whenever you want right now.”

Troutt explained the devil employs the same tactics over and over. But people in the throes of their sin fail to recognize them.

“We can plan our way but the Lord establishes our steps,” said Jones. “It is his timing. It is completely in his will and his sovereignty that he gives good gifts to us, to those who love him.”

In a podcast last year, Jones talked about why people believe in horoscopes, zodiac signs and enneagrams. She explained that people are looking for themselves when they read these things, and if they’re looking for it, they will find it.

Another ex-witch who gave her life to Christ, Jordan Taylor, told CBN about the things she experienced as a New Age follower.

“Because I was interacting with what I thought were my spirit guides, I was calling them in and calling on them,” she said. “If I was praying or meditating, I was calling these demons in. I was also having sleep paralysis episodes.”

“During my sleep paralysis, I would see things and hear things, but I couldn’t move or speak…it was just demonic,” she stated. “In that moment, I just felt like this was my normal now and it felt like, well, these things happen, and I didn’t feel like it was because of me…it was just…this was my world.”

She turned to Christ after her boyfriend shared the gospel with her and showed her the movie A SON OF GOD.

“It was right after that I remember getting on my knees and just repenting for all of the things I did in New Age and telling Jesus that I accepted him and that I wanted more and more and more of him,” Taylor said.

An ex-warlock who’s now a pastor, Richard Lorenzo Jr., told CBN when he followed the new age, he heard voices.

“I definitely was possessed,” he said, adding that he had everything he wanted — money, travel, women, all of it. “I was still empty inside, so that question would run through my mind constantly: What’s the purpose of life? What are we doing here?”

He continued, “I used to believe…abortion is right…I would convince people about abortion, convince people to get drunk, to cheat on their wives. I was literally working for the devil.”

But then, he found Jesus, and his life changed. A lot of believers started showing up in his life, even an Uber driver. “God was sending people left and right.”

He felt like God was calling him immediately to come to him, and he got “filled with the spirit.” He knew he needed “more deliverance,” so he went to a pastor, who called demons out of him. Lorenzo recalls spitting up blood in the process.

After that, he felt free and light. He didn’t need alcohol or pills to sleep anymore, and he was free from his lifelong pornography addiction. He felt God calling him to become a pastor, and instead of doing the devil’s work, he’s doing the Lord’s.

These testimonies show how strong the enemy’s foothold can be and how important it is to be vigilant in faith.
