Fox’s new game show, 99 TO BEAT, bumped up its $100,000 prize pot to $1 million.

Ken Jeong and Erin Andrews host the show. It will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. ET. The first episode follows the Season 4 premiere of Rob Lowe’s show, THE FLOOR, Variety reported July 14.

The show features 100 contestants who duke it out in amusing games. The key to winning each game is to not be among the last ones to lose. Each round will eliminate a few players until there is just one person left standing.

Initial produces, and Natalka Znak, Claire O’Donohoe, Katy Manley and Lee Smithurst executive produce.

The producers said the $1 million prize brought excitement and “tears.”

The show originally came out in the UK this year. It has a 5.9/10 rating on IMDB.

In the UK show, contestants had to guess a llama’s weight, slingshot targets, pack up pop-up tents, balance on seesaws, roll bowling balls, balance a slinky on their foreheads and pick up nails…using other nails.

THE FLOOR, which came out in January 2024, is one of Fox’s most popular game shows. This year, Fox renewed it for two seasons. It’s a quiz show that features contestants on an enormous LED floor that’s divided into squares. Each square represents a field of knowledge.

Each episode features a challenger who must select an opponent. As they quiz off, they either gain or lose their territory (quiz squares). The last person has full control of the floor and wins $250,000.

“The thing that you love the most about THE FLOOR is anything can happen,” Lowe told Variety in April. “Somebody can come out of nowhere. Somebody who’s built a huge area on the floor can go down in an instant.”

“And we obviously have a JEOPARDY! champion that nobody wants to screw around with, and probably for good reason,” he continued. “But I would just say it’s always best, when in doubt, to expect the unexpected.”

Lowe hinted that he expects the show to last for a long time.

“There are ways every year to add another wrinkle, ways that just accentuate the core simplicity of what people like,” Lowe said. “And each year, we have found a new wrinkle. This year was the time boost.”

“We have a couple of new ones for next season that I think are spectacular. It’s like, why didn’t we think of this before?” He said of Season 4, “And we’ll be unveiling that when we unveil at the upfront, but it’s just another way to keep people reimagining the game, even if they’ve been fans of it since the beginning.”

The show has been the highest-rated unscripted series telecast for Fox in the last two years, but with 99 TO BEAT’s higher jackpot, it will be interesting to see if it steals the ratings.
