‘I’ve Got A Story To Tell’: Jamie Foxx Teases Return To Stand-Up

By Movieguide® Contributor

Jamie Foxx is sharing plans for a return to stand-up comedy in a new Instagram post.

“I’m planning on bringing more moments,” he wrote under a video of one of his previous comedy specials. “Going to get on somebody’s stage somewhere near you. I got some jokes, and a story to tell.”

Foxx got his start in the entertainment industry as a comedian, releasing three comedy specials over the years. He has gone on to be an Academy Award-winning actor and a Grammy-winning musical artist.

The actor recently earned a Producer’s Award at this year’s African American Film Critics Association Awards, just a year after his mysterious health scare.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Foxx was hospitalized at the beginning of April for an unidentified health issue. During the health scare, Foxx’s family took to social media, asking fans for prayers. Once he had recovered, they shared their gratitude for all the support they received.

“Due to quick action and great care, [Jamie] as already on his way to recovery,” the family said at the end of April in a since deleted Instagram post. “We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers.”

“Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed,” Foxx posted to Instagram at the beginning of May.

In his acceptance speech, Foxx said he plans to talk about his illness and hospitalization, but “I’ve got to do it in my own way.”

“I’m going to do it in a funny way,” he promised. “We’re going to be one stage, we’re going to tell you, we’re going to go back to the stand-up roots.”

While Foxx has not shared any details about what caused his hospitalization, he has been open with fans about his recovery process and thanked them for their prayers.

In one Instagram post, he wrote, “I wanna start by saying thank you to everyone that prayed for me when I was in a bad way… here lately I’ve been able to thank some of you personally but I want to say to all of you. I NEEDED EVERY PRAYER… you lifted me through… I was able to make it to today because of your prayers.”
