HGTV Star Reflects on Advent: ‘He Is Here. We Can Rest’

By Movieguide® Contributor

HGTV’s Jenny Marrs is taking some time to stop and feel God’s presence during this Advent season.

“The beauty of Advent rests in the promise – God with us,” she captioned a recent Instagram post. “God is here in the midst of the mundane. In the midst of the laundry and the dishes and the piles of papers and the unmailed cards and the unwrapped gifts. He is here.”

Marrs shared that “we can take a deep, soul-filling breath” because “He is here. We can rest.”

“We can pay attention to His hand at work and offer gratitude for the wonder of the season; even if this December finds us in less-than-ideal, imperfectly-hard circumstances,” she continued. “As I listen to the birds’ morning song from my front porch, I feel it deeply: He is here.”

Marrs finished her post with a verse from the book of Luke — “Jesus replied, ‘The Kingdom of God isn’t ushered in with visible signs. You won’t be able to say, “Here it is!” or “It’s over there!” For the Kingdom of God is among you.’ (Luke 17: 20-21)”

Marrs has been sharing her thoughts on the busy holiday season on Instagram. In one post, she spoke of the importance of giving yourself grace.

“Grace, friends. Soak in it this morning,” she wrote. “Let yourself get done what you can and let go of the rest. It will all be okay. Our kids will only remember the joy.”

Christmas isn’t the only thing keeping Marrs busy right now. She and husband Dave recently announced that they are opening a new store in their hometown of Bentonville, Marrs on Main.

“We love our community and are always looking for opportunities to highlight the incredible local artisans we work with,” Marrs said in a press release. “Marrs on Main will feature all of our favorite handmade pottery, leather goods, art, and home decor.”

She continued, “We will also bring in one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, handmade light fixtures, and antiques that Dave and I have personally sourced around the world. Much like our Centerton location, our hope for Marrs on Main is that it is a place where the things we sell each tell a story and encourage visitors to seek beauty in all things and in all people.”
