In the wake of #BlackoutTuesday on social media, entertainer and fashion designer Jessica Simpson said that she has “resilient faith” and that love is greater than fear.
“I have been taken to my knees in prayer time and again over these last days. I am listening to the testimonies crying out. I am hearing God’s anointed power in the hearts that are steadfast,” said Simpson. “I am hopeful that God will deliver the souls of the righteous who are crushed in spirit. I have resilient faith that anything hate can do, LOVE can do better. #BlackoutTuesday”
Simpson’s dad was a pastor in Texas which shaped her start in the entertainment industry. Though she’s publicly discussed her struggles with alcohol and other secular issues, her faith often plays a role in her career choices.
“Prior to her career as a pop star, Simpson was on the path of singing Christian music,” CheatSheet.com reported. “Due to her curvy statue, she was viewed as ‘too sexy’ to sing faith-based music and record labels passed on signing her.”
Simpson also turned down the leading role of Ally in THE NOTEBOOK because of the sex scene.
However, Simpson still had a whirlwind singing/ acting career with projects like EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH and THE DUKES OF HAZARD (2005).
Years ago Simpson told Vanity Fair, “I live off the faith that has been instilled in me, that has never left.”
The “I Think I’m in Love” singer added, “We all go through trials, but not one thing has ever made me question God.”
Simpson is a mom to three children with her husband Eric Johnson.
