Why Jesus Is ‘Everything’ to This White Sox First Baseman
By Moiveguide® Contributor
A relationship with Jesus is “everything” to Chicago White Sox first baseman Gavin Sheets.
“Jesus Christ is my Savior,” Sheets declared on Sports Spectrum’s podcast. “He’s my friend, He’s my father, He’s everything that you want a man to be in your life. And, you know, He’s my everything.
“When I’m in need, when I’m giving grace, when I’m giving thanks, He’s there. When I’m at my highs and my lows. And you know, without Him, we don’t go through anything alone. And so, He’s everything to me,” the first baseman continued.

“Yeah, that was one of the cooler things I’ve ever been a part of, and to have you come out, you know, obviously a huge part of the community in Chicago and for you to come out and your willingness to share the Word and get some people to testify to Christ,” Sheets said of Forte.
“I think a lot of times in sports, you don’t know why you’re in the place that you’re in,” Sheets continued. “Obviously, it was an extremely tough year in Chicago this year with the White Sox. You see some of the members of your team get traded and go to teams that are having winning seasons. I’ve kind of seen the good and the bad in Chicago in terms of being on a playoff team and then being on a team like last year.”
Sheets explained that those specific situations “give you perspective on why God has you in the place that you’re in.”

Sheets doesn’t shy away from sharing his faith. His Instagram bio boldly declares, “To God be the Glory.” He’s grateful for the opportunity to play in the MLB.
“If there’s one thing we’ve learned it’s you can’t take big league wins for granted,” Sheets said last season. “To get back-to-back wins and get a series win, it feels really good. We have to enjoy these times and keep it going.”
