John Stamos Says No To A FULL HOUSE Reunion: ‘It’s Not The Same Without [Bob Saget]’
By Movieguide® Contributor
John Stamos recently put rumors of a FULL HOUSE reboot to rest, explaining that there’s “a piece missing” without the late Bob Saget.
“It’s just not the same without him,” Stamos said. “There’s something missing, there’s a piece missing. We’re doing a lot of tributes. I did that Netflix tribute [DIRTY DADDY: THE BOB SAGET TRIBUTE], which was beautiful, I thought.”
The actor continued, “Every chance I get, I talk about him. If we’re real quiet, we could hear him complaining right now that I don’t talk about him enough. We’ll continue to do tributes to him, but I don’t know about a FULL HOUSE one, though.”
Stamos and Saget starred as brothers on FULL HOUSE, and got very close during their time on the show.
“It’s hard to explain who Bob was to me personally without understanding that he’s your Bob too,” Stamos said in his eulogy for Saget. “The worldwide ocean of love for him has been unbelievable. Though it’s been hard for me to look at the tributes, stories, magazine covers, millions of social media posts, I feel everyone out there is getting it right, saying the perfect thing, remembering Bob in these remarkable ways.”
He continued, “I just wish he knew how much the world loved him when he was here. I spent many a night trying to convince him of how loved he really was (or maybe it was the other way around — him trying to convince me how loved he was). But that was just Bob bluster. There’s no way he thought his death would have this kind of impact. This is the kind of coverage that speaks to someone who genuinely connected with people, and not just for a moment, but for generations.”
Stamos isn’t the only FULL HOUSE costar who is still mourning Saget. Movieguide® previously reported on Candace Cameron Bure’s memories of her TV dad:
Candace Cameron Bure recently opened up about about the close bond she shared with FULL HOUSE co-star Bob Saget, who died Jan. 9, 2022.
“It’s been a little over a month, and there’s days that are great and days that it just hits you,” Bure said in an interview with FOX AND FRIENDS.
Bure said that she still keeps in touch with Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo.
“It’s been difficult these past couple weeks, because of more things that have come out, and there’s a lot of questions. I’m trying, honestly, not to think about it, in the sense that I wanna remember Bob and what a kind and loving and amazing person that he was and let it be that,” Bure said.
Movieguide® also reported on Dave Coulier’s thoughts on Saget’s passing:
Dave Coulier remembered his FULL HOUSE co-star and friend, the late Bob Saget, in a recent interview.
“We made each other laugh,” Coulier shared. “And, you know, it was me, Bob and [the late] Garry Shandling, and Saget always had a three-way calling, so the three of us would be on the road, and Bob always would patch me and Garry in, and we were like three fifth graders.”
Coulier met Saget when he was just 18 years old and starting out as a young comic. He even ended up sleeping on Saget’s couch while they were filming and “became instant friends.”
The actor also shared what he would remember most about his FULL HOUSE days.
“We laughed our tails off,” Coulier said. “We had such a good time that we still talk about the stories when we get together,” he said. “We are very close. We are a very — it is almost insane that a TV show becomes a real family. But we did.”
“We have been there for everything from, you know, the start of our show to the cancellation of our show from being no-names to being huge names from births, divorces, deaths, marriages — you name it. We have been through it like a real family,” he concluded.
