Jonathan Isaac Wants to Honor God ‘Above the World’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Orlando Magic star Jonathan Isaac shared a powerful message on social media that encourages listeners to see honoring God as an investment rather than a sacrifice.
“What am I asking God today? I am asking God to help me see honoring Him as an investment and not a sacrifice,” Isaac said in a video shared by Christhelte. “Honoring him in my life, with my heart, with my desires. Turning away from my sinful desires. Honoring him with my body, with my tongue, with my mind as an investment and not a sacrifice.
“I’m not missing out. I’m not losing anything by turning away from the world,” he continued. “By seeking God’s face, I’m investing in my future. I’m investing in my purpose. I’m investing in who God has created me to be. I’m investing in eternity. Man, I’m not missing out on anything. The world has nothing to offer me that God cannot give me in his timing, in his grace, and his mercy. So, I am set today on focusing on God.”
Isaac ended the video with a prayer.
“I want to honor You in all things,” the athlete prayed. “I’m not perfect, I never will be. Your grace is sufficient. It’s not my righteousness that saves me, It’s your righteousness that saves me. But I want to honor you above the world and help me to see that as an investment.”
Isaac captioned the video with 1 Timothy 4:8. The verse reads, “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
“Thanks be to Jesus for Grace and Mercy and patience to help us get it right,” Isaac added in the caption. “No matter what we’ve done there is always hope in Jesus! We just have to make the decision ??”
One way Isaac honors God is through his sports apparel brand UNITUS.
“Wear what you love.. Without compromising what you believe,” he posted after launching the brand last year.
Earlier this summer, he launched his Live Beyond collection.
“True greatness is living beyond yourself in service to others. Inspired by Philippians 2:3, this collection invites you to live a lifestyle of humility and love,” Isaac posted along with a video of the line.
Movieguide® recently reported on Isaac’s contract extension with the Magic:
Outspoken Christian and NBA star, Jonathan Isaac, isn’t going anywhere, as he just signed a five-year, $84 million contract with the Orlando Magic.
Isaac is considered one of the best defenders in the league. Last year he averaged 6.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game coming off of the bench. For his efforts, he was nominated for NBA Sixth Man of the Year. He also helped lift the team to its first playoff berth in four years and its first winning season in five.
While he is a great player on the court, Isaac is perhaps better known for his outspokenness off the court. In 2020 during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, Isaac chose to stand during the National Anthem while the rest of the league kneeled.
