As Jonathan Roumie prepares to film the crucifixion for THE CHOSEN Season 6, he asked fans for one thing — prayers.

“My dear Friends,” Roumie began an Instagram post last week. “This month, I’m filming one of the most sacred, painful, and defining moments in all of human history: the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. ✝️ I’d be lying if I said it’s ‘business as usual.’ Or easy. Or ‘fun scenes to film.'”

“It’s not. It’s heavy. It’s humbling. And it’s holy,” he continued. “But in preparation for, and amidst this profound responsibility, I’ll be uniting myself more intentionally to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the very heart that broke for us.”

He shared that he will participate in the Hallow prayer app’s 19-day Sacred Heart prayer challenge, which focuses on deepening a person’s relationship with Jesus through prayer and reflection.

“If you want to walk this path of love, mercy, and surrender alongside me, join the Sacred Heart Prayer Challenge on Hallow. Let’s give our hearts to the One who gave us His first,” he added.

Roumie concluded the post asking for prayer.

“If you feel called, please continue to keep me in your prayers. Myself, our cast and crew need them now more than ever. It’s been a period time of mental, physical, and spiritual warfare,” he said.

Roumie reflected more on the experience of embodying Christ’s sacrifice in a post honoring the Feast of the Holy Trinity yesterday earlier this week.

“There is yet more suffering to endure, not only as my character, but through my own sacrificial offering as an artist to embody and accept every ounce of pain and discomfort associated with the process of making Christ’s own suffering very real to everyone who not only participates in the production, but to those who witness the finished product. I.e., YOU,” he wrote.

Roumie can’t say much about how it’s going, partly because of NDAs but also because the experience has left him speechless.

“I have witnessed many members of my cast and crew emotionally leveled much in the same way I have been,” he revealed. “The grace is that we have been lifting each other up throughout, and I couldn’t feel more blessed. What we are creating shall transcend all of us.”

As Roumie takes on the painful and humbling task of portraying Christ’s crucifixion, continue to keep him and the entire CHOSEN cast and crew in your prayers. THE CHOSEN Season 6 will release sometime in 2026.
