Born-again Christian rapper Kanye West established a fully funded college plan for George Floyd’s daughter.
“West’s representative said he established a 529 education plan to fully cover college tuition for Gianna Floyd, the 6-year-old daughter of George Floyd,” CNN reported.
In total, Kanye West “has made a $2 million donation to support the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor,” CNN added. “The donation includes funding for legal fees for Arbery and Taylor’s families, along with black-owned businesses in crisis in his native Chicago and other cities.”
These deaths are largely considered to be race related.
Floyd was killed on May 25. Taylor was killed two months ago when police broke down the door to her apartment in an attempted drug sting, and shot her eight times. Arbery was shot to death in February while out for a jog.
Recent events such as protests over these deaths have stirred racial division, but West isn’t a stranger to sharing about this division.
At one of his past Sunday Services, West talked about how the devil divides the Christian community.
According to the Christian Post, West said:
“In service to God I got to address this, all this Christian beef that I be seeing. White gospel, black gospel. Do you know the Gospel? Are you really preaching?” West asked in a video from the event.
“Look, Jesus died for our sins! It’s simple. If you believe that, that’s it,” he maintained. “That’s the devil causing these divides even in the Christian community.”
West highlighted just how cunning the devil is in his song “Hands On” which paints a picture of a black man encountering a police officer.
The lyrics read:
Cut out all the lights, He the light
Got pulled over, see the brights
What you doin’ on the street at night?
Wonder if they’re gonna read your rights
Thirteenth Amendment, three strikes
Made a left when I should’ve made a right
Told God last time on life
Told the devil that I’m going on a strike
Told the devil when I see him, on sight
I’ve been working for you my whole life
West’s chilling lyrics prompt listeners to look into their own heart and ask who they serve (Joshua 24:15).
