Actor Reminds Us We Need ‘Less Me’ and More Jesus This Advent

Actor Kevin James and several other celebrities teamed up with prayer app Hallow to help you experience God this Advent season.
In an Instagram Story kicking off the app’s Pray25 Advent Challenge, James read John 3:30: “He must increase, I must decrease.”
“Less me, more Thee,” the comedian continued. “It’s a weird concept for me, but it’s like you have to get out of your way. It’s less of you. Because I’m always seeking comfort. It’s like dying to yourself in those things and trying to be a better dad or a better husband or better whatever it is.”
Hallow’s Advent challenge started on Monday and will end on Christmas day. The theme this season? “For God So Loved the World,” from John 3:16.
“We’ll dive deep into the real meaning behind this verse and how it brings to life so beautifully the depth of God’s love for us – a love so heartbreakingly deep that He gives us, at Christmas, His only Son, knowing the life He was leading Him to,” Hallow said.
Several other actors and musicians have joined the challenge and will help lead listeners in worship or prayer.
THE CHOSEN’S Jonathan Roumie shared his excitement on his social media, writing, “It begins TODAY! @hallowapp’s #Advent challenge will rock you! The lineup is unbelievable. Pray every day leading up to Christmas!”
“Wishing you all a holy time of preparation as we await the baby Jesus,” he concluded.

Lauren Daigle, along with Gwen Stefani, Matt Maher and Sarah Kroger, will lead participants in worship.
Daigle wrote, “It’s my favorite time of year y’all and I am so excited to share that I’ve partnered with @hallowapp as part of their 25-day prayer challenge leading up to Christmas called Pray25: For God So Loved the World. We will pray and meditate every day on God’s love for us, a love so beautiful that He sent His Son to die for us. It’s going to be so powerful y’all. You’ll hear some of my own faith story and a song of mine about God’s love.”
