Talented Christian actress Chrissy Metz is all set to join a new untitled series based on Lars Kepler’s crime novels.
The Apple and A+E Studios series also stars Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, Stephen Graham, Bill Camp and Rory Culkin, Deadline reported July 14.
The story is about Jonah Lynn, played by Schreiber, a former soldier who traded in his camo for a detective badge. He settles in Western Pennsylvania for the slow pace, but a malicious serial killer has a different plan.
Metz will take on the serious role of a struggling mom whose kids go missing.
Filming will take place in Pittsburgh this summer. Rowan Joffe and John Hlavin will co-showrun and executive produce with Schreiber, Beetz, Oystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry, Niclas Salomonsson and Tim Van Patten, who is set to direct the first two episodes. Julie Herrin will co-executive produce.
A+E Studios and Range Studios back the show. Cinema Express reported the series is ordered for 10 episodes.
Kepler is a bestseller with 10 published crime novels. He — or they, as Lars Kepler is a pseudonym for writing partners Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril — has sold 18 million books across the world.
Metz is a two-time Golden Globe Award nominee and Emmy nominee. She’s known for THIS IS US and BREAKTHROUGH and will also star in the upcoming Netflix movie FAITH IN THE FLAMES: THE NICOLE JOLLY STORY.

Metz is a strong believer who leans on the power of prayer.
“I don’t always know what’s good for me but I believe you know, in my faith and that… God… knows better than I know for myself and so… all the time I have these beautiful answered prayers,” Metz told Movieguide®.
“I pray all the time, anywhere, for everyone,” she told PEOPLE this year. “I pray for every single person who gets on the plane, every piece of the plane, the pilots, the flight attendants…” she said. “I believe that it helps.”
She points out that the act of prayer acknowledges an absence of control.
“Prayer transcends lack of control,” she said. “Even with COVID or anything traumatic, where you’re like,’ I have no control over this,’ The only thing anybody could do was pray.”
Metz is a talented actress and Teddy Bear Award® winner. She puts a lot of depth and emotion into her roles. We wish her the utmost success in the Lars Kepler series and her new acting endeavors.
