United States women’s national soccer team star Mallory (Pugh) Swanson and her husband, Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson, are expecting their first child!

The husband-wife duo shared the news on their Instagram accounts on May 7.

“Our greatest blessing 🤍,” Mallory wrote in the caption, accompanied by photos of the pair holding sonogram photos.

Fans and friends commented on the post to share their excitement and offer congratulations.

“Congrats to you both,” Sports Spectrum said.

“😍 congratulations!!” the US Women’s National soccer team wrote.

“Sooo amazing. Congratulations to you both ❤️❤️,” a former US Women’s national team player commented.

“So so so beyond happy for the both of you!! Can’t wait to meet the little Swanson ❤️,” one of Mallory’s teammates celebrated.

Mallory, who is one-third of the USWNT “Triple Espresso” players, scored the only “goal in the U.S. squad’s 1-0 win over Brazil in the gold medal match in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She was also on the 2019 U.S. team that won the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” according to TODAY.

She’s also part of the Chicago Stars for the National Women’s Soccer League but has not participated in a game this year because of personal reasons.

“Forward, Mallory Swanson, continues to attend to personal matters and will be away from the club for the time being,” the club wrote in March.

Dansby currently plays for the Chicago Cubs organization and is a World Series champion and two-time Golden Glove Award Winner.

Aside from their accolades, the couple is also on fire for the Lord.

After her historic goal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Mallory told NBC Sports, “We’ve been playing with joy, and you can just see it on the field…I’m super thankful that I was able to play with this group. I obviously was very blessed to play with so many great players, and with a bunch of new teammates and everything coming in, I think it’s just been super fun.”

Likewise, following his wife’s comeback after an injury, Dansby gave all the glory back to God for her incredible recovery and remarkable goal at the 2024 Olympics.

“In God’s beauty and brilliance, He can take something that’s so devastating and create something even more amazing than one could ever imagine,” Dansby told MLB.com. “It’s just a testament to [Mallory] and her gratitude, her joy, her love, grace — any positive attribute you can come up with — just how she’s handled every bit of this is amazing.”

While the Swansons haven’t shared any news about their baby’s gender yet, their child is sure to grow up in a home centered on Christ.
