Mario Lopez will host the 52nd Daytime Emmy Awards which will see multiple changes as it offers tickets for an in-person audience and will be broadcast over social media rather than TV.

“We’re thrilled to be working with ACCESS HOLLYWOOD and having Mario Lopez host his year’s Daytime Emmy Awards,” said NATAS president and CEO Adam Sharp. “As a beloved figure in daytime television himself, Mario brings the perfect blend of energy, familiarity, and star power to the stage.”

The award show will be heavily promoted through Lopez’s ACCESS HOLLYWOOD which is set to begin coverage all throughout the week of Oct. 13 even though the Daytime Emmys do not take place until Oct. 17. Furthermore, the award show will get a full recap on ACCESS HOLLYWOOD on Monday, oct. 20, highlighting the red carpet and winner’s reactions throughout the awards.

The shows up for the most awards this year include YOUNG AND RESTLESS, GENERAL HOSPITAL, DAYS OF OUR LIVES, THE DREW BARRYMORE SHOW and THE KELLY CLARKSON SHOW. Those interested in viewing the show will have to do so through The Emmys app or on watch.themmys.tv as the show has no broadcast carrier this year.

Lopez will look to build on the success of this year’s Primetime Emmys, which were hosted by clean comedian Nate Bargatze and saw a four-year viewership high this year. Bargatze ran a family-friendly show, a decision that will likely be mirrored by Lopez, as he shares a similar worldview.

“Today, I happen to be turning 51 years old and I’m still blessed to be doing what I love the most. Only now, what I love most is being a dad,” Lopez said in 2024.

Last year, Lopez and his wife, Courtney, signed on to a multi-year deal with Great American Family to create multiple family-friendly works with the network.

“Throughout my career, I’ve aimed to create a body of work that appeals to diverse audiences and, above all, brings joy to people,” he said. “Joining Great American Media is immensely fulfilling. I look forward to creating uplifting, inclusive, and diverse content, viewed through a positive lens for all ages.”

Lopez has also been outspoken about his faith in the past and publicly declared the sovereignty of the Lord while discussing the difficulties of being a Christian in Hollywood.

“[Faith] is alive in me. It’s not really as prevalent  [in Hollywood] as I think it should be,” he explained. “If you don’t think necessarily the way the left does entirely — they don’t embrace diverse thought, so it’s unfortunate.”

Catch Lopez hosting the Daytime Emmys on Oct. 17 and be sure to tune into all the programming around the show on the Lopez-hosted ACCESS HOLLYWOOD starting Oct. 13.
