BLUE BLOODS favorite NYPD Detective Maria Baez will make an appearance on BOSTON BLUE, and it looks like something is brewing in her relationship with Danny Reagan.
“The BOSTON BLUE series premiere finally made Danny and Baez a couple after fans waited years for that on BLUE BLOODS,” TV Line reported. “Danny and Baez are trying to make their long-distance relationship work now that Danny has permanently moved to Boston and Baez still wants to live at home in New York.”
The logline for the upcoming episode, which sees Marisa Ramirez reprise Baez, reads, “When a Brooklyn homicide leads to a dangerous cross‑city case, Danny and Lena reunite with Danny’s former NYPD partner Maria Baez to uncover the truth and protect a vulnerable victim. Meanwhile, separate investigations test personal loyalties and moral boundaries as the team confronts difficult family dynamics.”
Though BOSTON BLUE is still in its first season, it’s made sure to tie into BLUE BLOODS, which ended in 2024.

“I would just say that we left them in a spot where they’re trying to make it work,” co-creator Brandon Sonnier said of Danny and Maria’s relationship. “Their partnership is as strong as it ever was. Their romantic relationship, however, has the ups and downs of any long-distance relationship. There are lots of old feelings that are resurfaced.”
Donnie Wahlberg and Ramirez show support for each other both on and off camera. Earlier this year, Ramirez showed up at Wahlberg’s New Kids on the Block concert.
“The best way to spend Valentine’s Day! Mom’s night out was just perfect! Warmed my heart to meet so many amazing blockheads. Thank you all for being so sweet,” she wrote in the caption.
Movieguide® nominated BOSTON BLUE: Episode 1.8: “In the Name of the Father, and of the Son. . .” for the Faith & Freedom Award® For Television and Streaming at this year’s Movieguide® Awards.
“Episode 8 of BOSTON BLUE: Season One is well-made, with excellent performances,” Movieguide®’s review reads. “It has a strong Christian, moral worldview. Characters attend church, pray and quote Scripture. People get advice from Jonah and Sarah’s grandfather, a Baptist pastor.”
Movieguide® adds, “Episode 8 of BOSTON BLUE: Season One also features scenes focusing on family, helping those struggling with addiction and telling the truth. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children and young teenagers for some action violence, light foul language, and strong miscellaneous immorality.”
