Ole Miss defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday in a stunning 41-35 victory, led by backup quarterback Trinidad Chambliss.
Last season, Chambliss played for Division II Ferris State. On Saturday, he led the Rebels to their third win of the season.
According to 247Sports, “Chambliss threw for 353 yards on 21-for-29 passing and one touchdown. He also ran for 64 yards, with 23 of those coming on quarterback scrambles. He accounted for three total touchdowns.”
In a post-game interview, the press asked the athlete if he was nervous at all entering the game.
“Yes, I was a little nervous. I’d be lying to you if I told you I wasn’t. But, you know, God’s got me. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, you know, was with me the whole time,” Chambliss declared.

However, the nerves began to settle for the young quarterback after his first run.
“Usually, when I get hit first and feel some contact, then it’s like, okay, you know, playing football,” he explained. “It’s just, you know, a game. I’ve been playing this since I was a little kid. So, yeah, that’s when I calmed down, and it was good.”
Chambliss’s first win with Ole Miss was a “dream come true.”
“You know, you dream of moments like this. Coming from a D2. I’m very grateful and appreciative, you know, for the opportunity that arose today. I’m just going to soak it all in, interact with all the fans because, you know, that was me when I was little,” he said.
Chambliss spoke with ESPN, explaining how he felt preparing for the weekend.
“I knew this week after Austin got hurt that there was going to be more on my plate,” Chambliss told ESPN. “You prepare to play every week and our coaches had a great plan and we really executed as a team. I’m so proud of our guys.”
Head coach Lane Kiffin told the media after the game, “Great job by Trinidad, obviously, and a great job by our coaches getting our backup quarterback ready. Trinidad really took care of the ball, got out of trouble all night and only got sacked once.”
“We’ve had a lot of wild ones with these guys,” he added, talking about the Razorbacks. “They had a great game plan and give them credit. It’s a good win for us.”
Though Chambliss certainly felt some nerves, he gave them to God and played phenomenally.
