Pixar Drops Transgender Storyline from Upcoming Animated Series

By Movieguide® Contributor

Pixar pulled a transgender storyline from an upcoming series, and that’s a win for families.

The animated series titled WIN OR LOSE follows “a co-ed middle school softball team named the Pickles in the week leading up to their championship game.”

“WIN OR LOSE reveals what it actually feels like to be in the shoes of eight different characters in the week leading up to the big game — the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, even a lovesick umpire — with incredibly funny, very emotional and uniquely animated perspectives,” Disney said.

Originally, the series was set to feature a transgender character, but Disney decided parents should be the ones to talk to their children about hot-button issues like this, rather than learning about it from entertainment.

“When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline,” a Disney spokesperson said.

Breitbart reported that the changes impact some of the show’s later episodes, “though it remains unclear who the trans character was and how big the part was. An unnamed source close to WIN OR LOSE  told the outlet the studio made the decision to alter course several months ago.”

This was a wise decision on the part of Disney and Pixar. The studios have faced scrutiny in recent years due to their inclusion of LGBTQ content in their movies like LIGHTYEAR and ELEMENTAL. Families don’t approve of the media foisting agendas on their children, and it shows at the box office.

The reason behind the decline includes Pixar’s extreme and immoral content in their films. That content then isolates families and lowers box office revenue.

Pixar had their best box office revenue when their films had positive pro-family views, moral values and uplifting messages.

Variety reported on whether Pixar could restore its former box office glory…

In order to do this, Pixar must return to family-friendly movies. They must remove the identity politics, remove excessive content, and instead allow inspirational messages to take hold. Only then will they be able to return to their box office hits. Disney’s future success depends on them recognizing what is making them sink.

Disney is definitely taking steps in the right direction and realizing that families do not want the media pushing these narratives on their children. Hopefully, the company continues in the right direction and doesn’t even write these types of characters into children’s shows to begin with.
