THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS is driving up to a theater near you.

A feature-length, live-action movie based on the beloved PBS television series is currently in the works.

“We are delighted to bring to life the iconic Ms. Frizzle and her zest for knowledge and adventure in a fresh new way that inspires the next generation of kids to explore science and supports the dedicated teachers who help make science real and accessible for young learners every day,” said producer Iole Lucchese.

Elizabeth Banks of the PITCH PERFECT and HUNGER GAMES movies will take the lead role as the quirky Ms. Frizzle.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Scholastic Entertainment will develop the movie along with Banks’ Brownstone Productions, Mary Poppins Returns banner Marc Platt Productions and Universal Pictures.”

Banks is the only announced cast member.

The original educational series premiered in 1994. The series was rebooted for Netflix in 2017, titled THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS RIDES AGAIN.

The late Little Richard wrote the iconic theme song for the ‘90s.
