Christian artist Anne Wilson is celebrating a major career milestone — she was just nominated for CMT’s Breakthrough Female Video of the Year.
“This morning I woke up to my first @cmt Music Awards Nomination!!!” she wrote on Instagram. “‘Rain In The Rearview’ is nominated for Breakthrough Female Video of the Year! I’m SO grateful for y’all and this opportunity.”
Wilson also posted a video of her manager, Matthew West, sharing the news with her.
“Hey, you just got nominated for your very first ever CMT Award,” West said.
Wilson replied, “Oh, my gosh! Are you for real? Oh, my gosh, that’s so cool!”
Movieguide® previously reported on the “Rain In The Rearview” music video:
Anne Wilson just debuted the music video for her latest single, “Rain In The Rearview.”
The video shows three different versions of the singer — one driving her car in the pouring rain, one standing in the storm and one driving towards the unknown.
“The three versions of me and the perspectives of all three were so accurate to how my life has been,” Wilson said of the video’s imagery. “We all go through different seasons and sometimes need the reminder that we can leave our past behind us.”
Wilson posted about the video on Instagram, writing, “This video was so much fun to shoot…I love getting to tell the story of this song visually and artistically in this way. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this song and video to life. I am so grateful and hope y’all LOVE it!!!”
Wilson has previously spoken about her desire to combine her faith-based lyrics with country production.
“My heart is to do Christian music forever,” she told ChristianHeadlines. “I love the Christian community and I love getting to share Jesus with people. But I also feel called to take that message into the world outside of the Christian market. So one of the ways that I feel very called is just by my songs being about the Lord and about His goodness and talking about Him, but the music sounding very country. And so it’s appealing to other people too, which has been really fun to see how people in other genres that don’t listen to Christian music are listening to my music, because they feel this pull towards it, because of the sound of it.”
Her upcoming album, “Rebel,” will feature country-inspired Christian songs.
“I can’t wait for everyone to hear these brand new songs on April 19,” Wilson said in a statement about the project. “I’ve been working so hard over the past 15 months to write these songs, record them and get them into the world! I was raised on two things: the love of God and the love of all things country. That’s what fuels the music I make and that’s what you’ll hear more of on ‘Rebel.’ I’m just so excited we are this close to releasing the record!”
