PAW PATROL’s new CEO is “ready to roll.”

Christina Miller will step up as the CEO of Spin Master Corp., the company behind PAW PATROL and other shows and toys, beginning July 7. She will replace Max Rangel, who served at CEO for the past four years.

Prior to this new role, Miller worked as the Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang president from 2014-2019. She also served as a Spin Master board member for the last five years.

“What has always been at the heart of Spin Master’s success is harnessing creativity and innovation to drive impact, shape culture and fuel growth through stories, characters, and play experiences,” said Spin Master co-founder Ronnen Harary of the transition.

He added, “We’ve known Christina for more than 20 years, and she is a storyteller and brand-builder by nature and will bring her deep experience of balancing art and science in operating franchises, brands and digital platforms at scale to further progress our legacy as creators and disrupters in the industry.”

In addition to the PAW PATROL franchise, Spin Master owns Melissa & Doug toys and Rubik’s Cube.

“Max has led Spin Master with purpose and a performance focus through a challenging period in our history,” said Anton Rabie, Spin Master chair and co-founder, said of the previous CEO. “Under his leadership we have meaningfully diversified the business, enhanced our supply chain capabilities and improved profitability and free cash flow, all of which have contributed to a stronger company, well-positioned for long-term growth.”

“I’m inspired by what Spin Master has built and excited to work with the talented team to further the company’s legacy through creativity and innovation,” Miller said of her new position.

Childhood best friends Harary and Rabie founded Spin Master in Canada in 1994 after graduating from Western University. Rabie’s former classmate Ben Varadi joined their team that same year.

Their first product? Earth Buddy, “a nylon-stocking-covered head filled with sawdust and topped with grass seeds that grew to resemble hair.”

Since then, they’ve created properties like PAW Patrol, Bakugan, Hatchimals, Kinetic Sand and Air Hogs. They also acquired major brands like Melissa & Doug, Rubik’s Cube, GUND, Cardinal Games, SwimWays, Aerobie, Etch a Sketch, Perplexus, Meccano, Tech Deck, Hexbug and Marble.

PAW Patrol, perhaps Spin Master’s best loved property, has found massive success as a kids’ show, recently winning three Canadian Screen Awards.

“A round of a-PAW-use because @pawpatrol won three Canadian Screen Awards and we’re howling with joy 🐾✨ ✨ Best Pre-School Program or Series, 🎧 Best Sound, Animation and, 🎼 Best Original Music, Animation,” Spin Master celebrated on Instagram.

People in the comment section sent their congratulations. “This is PAWsome!!!! Congratulations! 👏🏽 well deserved,” one user said. Another person added, “PAWsome! Congratulations, PAW Patrol! 🎉”

PAW PATROL spawned a few movies, too, the most recent being 2023’s PAW PATROL: THE MIGHTY MOVIE. Movieguide® praised its ” Strong moral worldview that will teach children the importance of family.” Part of the review reads:

PAW PATROL: THE MIGHTY MOVIE is a fun, action-packed movie for all ages. It has a strong moral worldview stressing sharing, selfless acts, courage, and the importance of family. It does have some scenes of cartoon action and peril, along with a scene about an orphaned pup that could bother younger viewers. Ultimately, THE MIGHTY MOVIE succeeds in showing that real power comes from sharing, loving one another and family.

Hopefully Miller will continue to build Spin Master’s and PAW PATROL’s family-forward properties.
