While mainstream Hollywood slips into darkness, Chris Pratt shines a light and wants to use his platform to share God’s love.
“I’m trying to be a light like Matthew 5:14 – ‘I am a light in this world, and you can’t hide,” the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY actor said recently. The scripture he referenced reads, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Pratt continued, “I can tell you it has had an impact on people who’ve come up to me in the street and said, ‘Hey, that’s really cool you say that.’ Maybe I’m affirming some of the 99, but I’m also really hoping that there’s the one out there who’s been praying for a sign, and they see an Instagram video and they’re like, ‘Maybe that’s the sign.’”
The actor is grateful that God uses him in such a big way.

“I love the idea that this whole thing was orchestrated so that I could help bring God into people’s lives. I think that would be the greatest outcome – even if I never worked again, that I was known for. That would make me feel good. I feel really good about that,” he said.
Although many influences may try to sway him, Pratt relies on what Bible says as his guide.
“I kind of rely on this biblical wisdom, Proverbs 26:20 – ‘For lack of wood, the fire will go out; where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases.’ So I give it time…[if] I see something about myself that’s not true. I understand why it’s out there, because this algorithm-driven passive entertainment is really meant to just capture our attention,” he said of listening to online criticism of him.
He added, “Nothing captures our attention more than being morally righteous where we are not the person that we’re judging. It’s very easy to have a very strong moral opinion about somebody else, and you can be presented with a narrative that puts you into that posture – that makes you a very lucrative target for these big businesses to kind of mine your attention and keep you focused.”
Pratt frequently uses his platform to encourage others in their faith. Last month on Instagram, he shared how he was starting his new year with a focus on God.
“The new year is here, and I know that after the holidays, I need a little reset, in my mind, my body, and my prayer life. Things get a little chaotic so it’s time to reel it back in,” Pratt wrote. “Starting today, I’m going to be reading excerpts from the Book of Daniel as part of the @hallowapp Daniel Fast Prayer Challenge. I love the book of Daniel, between the fires and the lions, it gives me the motivation I need to give up a few comforts in my life for God.”
Praise God for how Pratt uses his platform to glorify Him.
