Pastor and speaker Nick Vujicic thinks the division and lack of accountability in America will lead to a very difficult period.

“So 2005 was a big move in the western culture of really watering down the gospel and being a little bit more appetizing for people to come through the four walls of a church,” Vujicic told CBN last week.

In another interview, he summarized the change of American churches as going from “meat to milk.”

“The cost of that was accountability out the door pre-2005. If someone’s saying the f-word and someone’s actually bullying, and you know that someone’s actually sleeping with someone and they call themselves Christians, you know what happened pre-2005?” he said. “They probably actually get a meeting with a pastor called the youth pastor. Today the youth pastors generally are babysitters and no one’s accountable to anybody, starting with the faith leaders.”

He explained that lack of accountability leads to lack of counseling and the continuation of sin.

“One in five people who go to church once a week are addicted to porn. We’re not talking about it,” he argued. “Oh, we can talk about human trafficking, but it actually starts with porn.”

“So what we’ve got to do is we’ve got to change our shift in our mindset from church growth to real discipleship growth. We’ve got to go back to the basics…” the pastor continued.

Part of accountability is repentance and acknowledging sin. Repentance is more than just admitting you did something wrong; it’s doing a 180°. It’s stopping your ways.

“We want everyone to know that first and foremost, what we need to repent of is a lack of compassion,” Vujicic explained. “And so our ministry, Nick V Ministries, we have video resources for those in church pews who are actually brokenhearted. And I think we do need to walk towards something.”

“If you haven’t done something different and you actually haven’t turned and walked into the path of righteousness, you’re a delusional Christian,” he said.

It’s not easy, but as Christians, we are called to follow a righteous path.

“What does it look like to actually turn the way that God wants you to go, right? But man, if we don’t…I’m expecting the most crippling season of America because God loves us so much,” he said. “He wants all of us and God doesn’t have all of us yet. So, he may allow some crazy things to happen before we actually repent.”

Vujicic has a goal of sharing the gospel with one billion people by 2028. He’s visiting multiple countries a year and broadcasting all of his messages. He will embark on his Central America tour on Aug. 19.
