Why Young People Need a Biblical Worldview
By Movieguide® Contributor
Dr. Jeff Myers, president of Summit Ministries, is sharing the importance of teaching young people to have a biblical worldview.
“75% of young adults today say that they struggle to find a sense of purpose in life,” he said during an episode of TAKEAWAYS WITH KIRK CAMERON. “54% of them say they regularly struggle with anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation. So, they’re wrestling with purpose [and], at the same time, don’t know where to find answers from the Bible. Only 2% of American young adults have a biblical worldview.”
At Summit Ministries, young people can attend a two-week program with “top Christian thought leaders” who are “having dialogues with these young adults, helping them find answers to all of their toughest questions about their faith”
“86% of the students who come through Summit Ministries end up having a biblical worldview by the time they’re [through], so they learn to look at the scripture and find answers [on] how to defend their faith and how to live it in a way that makes sense and allows them to be influencers in our culture,” he explained.
Dr. Myers added, “In the United States of America, we are fortunate that the vast majority of people do think that the values found in the Bible are essential to a healthy American society.”
“The central battle today is not between Republicans and Democrats, or red states and blue states, or even religious and nonreligious people — it’s between people who recognize that there is truth and we can discover it, as opposed to people who believe it is up to the individual,” he continued. “When people reject God, it really does impact all the things that they think about.”

“Summit Ministries desires to see generations of Christians mobilized to transform a broken world,” the organization’s website reads. “We exist to equip and support rising generations to embrace God’s truth and champion a biblical worldview.”
Dr. Myers recently spoke to Fox News about the importance of Christians using their voices, especially in the political world.
“God’s glory covers all of the earth. God cares about everything,” he explained. “And specifically he cares about people. He cares about his image bearers. So to say that God doesn’t care about our political process is to misunderstand what God does in the world.”
