In LEGALLY BLONDE 2: RED, WHITE AND BLONDE, Elle Woods, the comical heroine in pink, goes to Washington, D.C. to help her dog, Bruiser’s, mother, who’s a test subject in an animal lab for a cosmetics firm. The fun spirit of the first movie has been hijacked by a politically-correct, pro-homosexual filmmaker.
(RoRo, PCPCPC, EvEv, HoHo, LL, SS, A, M) Romantic worldview, with very strong politically correct, liberal elements that include strong animal rights message and strong pro-homosexual message; seven light obscenities and 13 light profanities; no violence; depicted jokes about homosexual dogs and a reference to oral sex; no nudity; alcohol use; no smoking; and, political corruption, deceit, and “conservative” congressman publicly confesses that his dog is “gay.”
The producers of the comedy hit, LEGALLY BLONDE, starring Reese Witherspoon, decided to turn over the reins of the sequel to a liberal, homosexual activist named Charles Herman-Wurmfeld. According to the June 29 issue of the Los Angeles Times on page E27, Herman-Wurmfeld is a “long-time liberal activist” who works for Howard Dean’s campaign for President and whose first movie was the lesbian comedy KISSING JESSICA STEIN. The results are, to say the least, predictable, mindless, and highly offensive.
After getting fired from her job for trying to free her pet Chihuahua Bruiser’s mother from an animal lab, Elle Woods goes to Washington, D.C. to craft a bill to stop cosmetics firms from using animals as test subjects. She runs into obstacles, however, from a congressional aide, a frumpy congresswoman, a conservative congressman, and her own boss, played by Sally Field. Elle wins over the congresswoman by finding out that she belongs to the same college sorority. She wins over the conservative congressman when her little dog and the congressman’s big dog turn out to be homosexuals. Her boss and the aide turn out to be tougher nuts to crack, so she calls in reinforcements, three of her ditzy friends.
The production notes for LEGALLY BLONDE 2: RED, WHITE AND BLONDE note how children often ask the stars and filmmakers about Bruiser, the cute little Chihuahua in the movie. So, what are parents supposed to tell these same children when they ask about Bruiser’s sex life?
It is totally irresponsible for the filmmakers to allow this series to be hijacked by a member of the radical homosexual left. The politically correct orientation of LEGALLY BLOND 2 obviates the honest fun of the concept in this series and undercuts the credibility of the characters. It also will cut into the movie’s profits because a good portion of the potential audience for the movie will be offended.
Furthermore, the final feel-good message of the movie, that people need to speak up to make their voices heard, is disingenuous because it can’t logically apply to all points of view. Some points of view are clearly stupid or evil, so not all points of view deserve to be heard, least of all followed. In fact, the director himself, Mr. Herman-Wurmfeld, wouldn’t want all viewpoints to be heard either.
LEGALLY BLONDE 2 also contains some light foul language.
