When an aggressive coach takes over a ragtag team of peewee hockey players and renames them THE MIGHTY DUCKS, they snap their losing streak and skate their way to the championships. The story begins when Gordon Bombay, a hard-nosed trial lawyer, is sentenced by a judge to community service: coaching a pee wee hockey team. To Gordon’s horror, he is assigned a clumsy crew of misfits that can’t skate, score, or win. After several embarrassing losses, Gordon recalls when a coach made him feel miserable as a child, and he realizes that winning isn’t everything and playing hockey should be fun. What the team needs is a new attitude, coupled with vigorous training, new equipment, and a coach who believes in them. With newfound excitement, Coach Gordon turns things around.
With moviegoers rooting for THE MIGHTY DUCKS, the film should score big at the box office. It is an excellent choice for Dads, grandpas, youth pastors, and school teachers to take their youngsters to see. Almost everyone will appreciate the camaraderie, humor and riveting storyline which tugs at our heart strings. The movie offers hope to our youth, by pointing to the rewards of hard work, discipline, service, self-sacrifice, and teamwork.
