The movie claims to be inspired by “tabloid headlines,” which only confirms the implausibility of the action. The story is tightly written, but it chooses action and gore over character development. The special effects are good. Regrettably, the violence seems very real. There is constant foul language, extremely gory violence, depicted sex by an unmarried couple, and scores of acts of immoral behavior.

Claiming to be a “black comedy,” STUCK is a gore-filled story of a woman named Brandi (played by Mena Suvari), who while driving drunk and on drugs accidentally hits Tom (played by Stephen Rea), impaling him into her windshield where he remains throughout most of the movie. With Tom still stuck (hence the title) in her windshield, she goes home to her garage and locks Tom up, assuming he’ll be dead by morning. However, Tom continues to live as Brandi hits him with a piece of wood, brings her drug dealer boyfriend over to kill him, douses him in gasoline to set him on fire, yet Tom continues to live. In fact, Tom is able to kill the boyfriend and ultimately Brandi herself.
The only minor redemptive element in STUCK is a young boy and his Catholic mother, who crosses herself when she spies Tom in the garage, stuck in the windshield. They try to help, but her husband won’t let them for fear of getting involved with the police and fear of deportation.
