SEVERANCE

What You Need To Know:

SEVERANCE is a British horror movie about a group of people working for a notorious arms dealer who go on a company retreat in the mountains of Hungary. Abandoned by their bus driver, they have to walk to their cabin retreat, but the cabin is so rundown that it's obvious they have walked to the wrong place. They decide to camp there for the night, but their outing turns into an exercise of terror as they are attacked by a vicious group of ex-Soviet thugs or former inmates of a Soviet camp for vicious killers.

SEVERANCE is a horror slasher that tries to deliver as many laughs as scares. A few of the laughs, however, are grisly, such as a steel trap that takes off a man's leg while his comrades clumsily try to get him out of it. Although some people survive by killing off the last of the vicious killers, the violence is very bloody and brutal. The character depth and acting, however, are a cut above other, similar horror movies being made today. Because of the gallows humor, violence, nudity, and foul language, MOVIEGUIDE® rates this movie excessive.
