TRADE

"Praying for Deliverance"

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

TRADE is a hard look at the worldwide sex trade. The movie focuses on a young Polish woman and a 13-year-old Mexican girl who are kidnapped in Mexico City and taken across the border into the United States. Adriana, a 13-year-old girl, is kidnapped off the streets of Mexico City. She joins several other kidnap victims, including a teenage boy and a Polish woman named Veronica. Jorge, Adriana’s 17-year-old brother, finds out who’s taken her. He follows them across the border. As Jorge dodges the border patrol, he meets Ray, a Texas cop searching for his missing daughter. Convinced by Jorge’s story, Ray helps Jorge locate his sister. They discover the kidnappers are taking her to New Jersey, where they plan to sell her to the highest bidder.

TRADE doesn’t pull many punches, but neither does it wallow in the depravity of its subject matter. This is definitely adult material, however, with plenty of strong foul language and some sexual content. The movie may be too long. On the positive side, Adriana finds comfort and deliverance in her Christian faith. Her brother’s story ends more darkly, on a note of revenge.

Content:

More Detail:

TRADE is a hard look at the worldwide sex trade. The movie focuses on two incidents where a young Polish woman and a 13-year-old Mexican girl are kidnapped in Mexico City and taken across the border into the United States.

Adriana, a 13-year-old girl, is kidnapped off the streets of Mexico City. She is thrown in with several other kidnap victims, including a teenage boy and a Polish woman named Veronica.

They discover that the kidnappers are taking her to New Jersey, where they plan to sell her to the highest bidder. Meanwhile, Adriana finds comfort in her Christian faith, praying for deliverance from her kidnappers. Happily, her prayers are answered.

Next to abortion, the sex trade is the shame of the modern world. TRADE doesn’t pull many punches, but neither does it wallow in the depravity of its subject matter. This is definitely adult material, however, with plenty of strong foul language and some strong sexual content and brief nudity. The movie seems too slow and long, which dilutes its dramatic impact. On the positive side, Adriana finds comfort and deliverance in her Christian faith. Her brother’s story ends more darkly, on a note of revenge.
