What You Need To Know:

DASHING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS is a Christmas romance movie that follows Emily Nichols, a successful business consultant who travels so much for work she has not seen her family all year. Getting home for Christmas is very important to her, but after a series of obstacles—delayed public transportation, diverted flights, and a lost wallet—her holiday plans are in jeopardy. However, Emily stumbles, quite literally, into a fellow “road warrior,” Simon Allein, who graciously helps Emily even as the travel mishaps escalate. While Emily is more a Type A planner who hates disruptions and inconveniences, Simon is a go-with-the-flow sensitive guy who sees the bright side to any misfortune. The unlikely pair must rely upon one another to get to their final destination and while it tests their will, it also provides ample opportunity for them to get to know each other and perhaps even fall in love.

DASHING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS is a lighthearted romantic comedy and emphasizes themes of grace in relationships, family, and giving selflessly. While there are no explicit mentions of the Nativity or Christ, the movie highlights what it is to have a humble heart of giving. This is a fun, and at times heartfelt romantic comedy. There are some awkward interactions in a hotel that are played off as jokes but that could be inappropriate for younger children.

More Detail:

DASHING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS is UPtv’s newest holiday romance about Emily Nichols, a successful business consultant who travels so much for work she has not seen her family all year. Getting home for Christmas is very important to her, but after a series of obstacles—delayed public transportation, diverted flights, and a lost wallet—her holiday plans are in jeopardy.

The movie opens with Emily who only has an hour to get to her flight. She convinces her boss to let her go and the race to the airport begins. Emily, who has not seen her family all year due to her intense travel schedule, is excited to support her sister who is ready to give birth at any moment.

At the curb she misses her ride to the airport and trips over her suitcase. A man, Simon, is trying to get to the airport as well and offers Emily a lift too. Simon talks her ear off in the car ride over, but she is focused on her work.

They meet again at the gate and Emily is so late she loses her desired seat on the plane. However, Simon gives her his nicer seat. She still ignores him but when their flight is diverted, she decides to sit next to him in the terminal. Again, she ignores him as she tries to finish her work.

However, another mishap results in Simon and Emily bumping into each other. The flight is delayed and everyone must find a hotel. Emily discovers she left her wallet at the airport and is not allowed to check in without a driver’s license and credit card. Again Simon saves the day when he offers to split the room with Emily.

The room happens to be a honeymoon suite, which causes some awkwardness, but Emily and Simon make it normal and begin to talk about Christmas, their families, and their personal lives. They learn that they are both single and that Simon does not have family to go home to.

The next morning, they find that it will be quicker to rent a car and drive. Remembering she has no license or credit card, Emily asks Simon if he can drive the 8 hours home and he agrees. Although their personality types are way different, the two are forced to spend together on the car ride. As more and more obstacles arise, Emily begins to grow fond of Simon and her family encourages her to pursue that relationship. However, as they uncover more about each other personal obstacles join the duo’s geographical ones.
