SOUL SURFER Bethany Hamilton Welcomes Third Son on Valentine’s Day

Surfer Bethany Hamilton and husband Adam Dirks welcomed their third son, Micah, on Valentine’s Day!
Dirks announced the Valentine’s Day gift on Hamilton’s Youtube with a video titled “The BEST Valentines Day Surprise!!!”
“Mama is happy and healthy. We are just so thankful that everything went really smooth!” Dirks said in a statement on Hamilton’s website. “It’s an amazing blessing, the birthing process and the miracle of life that God has given. We are humbled and thankful that we get another opportunity to raise a son in his faith. Hopefully, we can be good examples and love on him. We’re excited baby is here. The perfect Valentine’s Day present!”
Hamilton, 31, lost her left arm in a shark attack when she was 13 and was the subject of the 2011 faith-based movie SOUL SURFER and a documentary, BETHANY HAMILTON: UNSTOPPABLE, both of which tell her story of faith and perseverance.
In addition to her faith, Hamilton wants to pass on her love of the ocean to her three boys.
“I just want them to appreciate the ocean and wave riding and hopefully be able to share that with them because I want to be surfing until I’m old,” Hamilton told Hawai’i magazine previously. “Even though I do a lot, I also feel like I’m still a full-time mom. The only time they’re not with me is when I’m out in the ocean, pretty much. They just are a part of our life very thoroughly and just come along for the ride.”
Hamilton also shared, via her Instagram, her excitement to get back to surfing.
“Excited to keep the momentum going and have fun in the ocean!” Hamilton wrote. “But first… have this baby, enjoy baby and then bring baby to the beach haha.”
