Fans Chip In for Chip Gaines Haircut, Donations Surpass $400,000 for St. Jude

Chip Gaines cut his hair and announced that fans helped to raise over $425,000 for the children at St. Jude.

Earlier this week, the FIXER UPPER star made a deal with fans who wanted him to cut off his shoulder-length hair.

Movieguide® previously reported:

The Magnolia owner, alongside his wife Joanna Gaines, announced through social media that he would cut his hair if fans rallied together to donate to St. Jude hospital.

“WOW.. turns out some of y’all really don’t like my hair! But I can take it because I’ve been growing it out for a good reason,” Chip said. “So now’s your chance to put your money where your mouth is.. I’m going to cut my hair, and I’m asking you to cut a check—and let’s see if we can raise a boatload of money for the kids at @stjude.”

“The hair’s coming off on Friday, but between now and then, let’s chip in together for a good cause. And when it’s all said and done, I’ll donate my hair to @cwhl_org. Let’s do this! #ChipInForStJude,” he wrote.

Chip updated fans on his Instagram, expressing his gratitude for all of the generous donations.

“WOW.. over $425k raised for @stjude!! We are completely blown away by how y’all came together to chip in for this amazing organization,” he wrote. “Jo and I are rounding that number up to an even $500k & we’re also sending $50k to the folks over at @cwhl_org to support the work they’re doing. Thank you all for being a part of this with us—what a powerful week that will no doubt have a lasting impact on countless lives. #ChipInForStJude.”

In a previous post, Chip shared a video of a barber shaving his head bald.

“And just like that.. it’s gone!” he wrote in the caption. “All worth it if it means more kids at @stjude get taken care of…”

In 2017, Chip shaved his head and raised over $200,000. That same year, Chip and Joanna met Bailey, a then-patient at St. Jude. However, four years later, Bailey is healthy and was also invited to witness Chip’s haircut.

St. Jude also expressed their gratitude in the comment section of one of Chip’s posts, saying: “Cut a check to cut the hair! We are so excited to see the donations coming in. Keep it up and thanks to everyone who has given already!”
