WarnerMedia Kids & Family Adds Family-Friendly Content Block

As streamers continue to battle for audiences, WarnerMedia adds weekly ‘ACME Night’ for family-friendly content through their Kids & Family branch— inspired by the corporation seen most often classic ROAD RUNNER cartoon.

WarnerMedia Kids & Family announced the new block would air movies on Sundays at 6 p.m. ET/PT.

According to Deadline, a recent lineup of movies for the new slot includes MAN OF STEEL, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, SHERLOCK GNOMES, SCOOB!, AND DETECTIVE PIKACHU.

“In the world of ACME anything, and I do mean anything, is possible,” Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics President Tom Ascheim, said. “We know families want to spend time together, so we’ve created a destination for multigenerational stories that pull families together through the power of imagination.”

While the push for more family-friendly, moral, and uplifting content is encouraging, media parents should still exercise media discernment.

For example, the new ACME Night programming includes content with potentially questionable elements such as HARRY POTTER WIZARDING WORLD—a new competition event series.

However, Warner Bros. noted that the Sunday slate would include Warner Bros. Animation original content like MERRY LITTLE BATMAN, DID I DO THAT TO THE HOLIDAYS? A STEVE URKEL STORY, and a yet-to-be-titled Looney Tunes Cartoons movie, Deadline reported.

WarnerMedia said that ACME Night “rounds out our focus on a family co-viewing” following the companies launch of its preschool programming, Cartoonito.

Warner Bros. is not the only company to pursue more family-friendly options for their streaming platform.

Movieguide® previously reported that even Netflix—with a majority of its content being immoral—made a push for more family viewing options:

Co-CEO for Netflix, Reed Hastings, said that the streaming services champion wants to target family-friendly programming content to compete with and surpass their competition.

“We want to beat Disney in family animation,” Hastings said.

Although Netflix releases hundreds of titles on a global scale each year, Hastings aims to take control of the animated movie market he says is led by Disney.

Hastings confessed that it might be some time before Netflix defeats Disney in this avenue: “That’s going to take a while. I mean, they are really good at it.”

Despite this supposed goal of creating family-friendly content, Netflix has acquired movies that are nothing short of filth. For example, the Netflix Company came under fire for their refusal to remove a French movie called CUTIES from their site. As a result, Netflix’s’ subscriber count dropped dramatically.
