Grammy award-winning singer Amy Grant said she felt supported by fans and family in recovery after a biking accident.

Grant took to Instagram to share an update with fans and express her gratitude for their prayers, gifts, and messages.

“I want to say thank you to everyone who has written me a note, sent flowers or gifts, or said a prayer on my behalf,” wrote the 61-year-old singer-songwriter. “I’m one month into a recovery that has held so many unexpected hidden gifts.”

“On the advice of my doctors and other friends who have been through similar experiences of recovery, I am choosing to give myself the gift of a very simple fall season,” she said regarding her music.

Despite her time of rest from touring, Grant said that she is excited to pick up where she left off and join Michael W. Smith and her husband Vince Gill on stage later this year.

“I look forward to making music with Michael W. and Vince during the Christmas season,” she said. “With deep appreciation and joy…. xo Amy.”

Movieguide® previously reported:

Christian singer Amy Grant will take a break from her August concert schedule to recover from a bike accident last Wednesday.

“Amy Grant was in an accident after hitting a pothole while riding her bicycle with a friend (note: she was wearing a helmet). Following a brief hospitalization where she was treated for her injuries, doctors have ordered additional recovery time at home for Amy, where she is now resting comfortably,” her team posted on the singer’s Instagram page.

This comes two years after the singer underwent open heart surgery for PAPVR, a rare condition Grant was born with but only discovered later in life, as Movieguide® previously reported.

While Grant is stable, she has rescheduled her August concerts in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Johnson City, and Wilmington to April and June 2023 due to “doctor’s orders.”

“All tickets will be honored at the new performance dates. There are no other changes to her touring schedule at this time,” the Instagram post added.

PEOPLE reports that Grant was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital, where she was treated for cuts and abrasions. She stayed at the hospital for a few days after the accident for observation and treatment and has since returned home.

The accident comes only a few days after Grant was named one of five recipients of this year’s Kennedy Center Honors.
