Kendrick Brothers’ Fathom Event for LIFEMARK Breaks Top 10 at Box Office

By Movieguide® Staff

The Kendrick Brothers’ latest faith-filled movie, LIFEMARK—a limited-time release through Fathom Events—cracked the top 10 top-grossing movies at the weekend box office.

Based on the true story of a boy who is given up for adoption and later reunites with his birth parent, the movie landed in the No. 7 spot, according to Box Office Mojo.

A portion of Movieguide®’s review of LIFEMARK reads:

LIFEMARK is a faith-based drama about an 18-year-old teenager, David, who has tried to hide the fact he’s adopted until his biological parents try to contact him. One day, David comes home, and his parents who raised him tell him his biological mother wants to meet him. Deciding to meet his birth mother, David hears from his biological father and must decide if he would like to meet him as well. Will David be able to be open with them and listen to what they have to say about giving him up for adoption?

LIFEMARK is a well-made, heartwarming, inspiring movie produced by the Kendrick Brothers and Kirk Cameron, who also stars. The movie is solid throughout, with a positive Christian worldview. The movie promotes relying on God, believing God’s plan, forgiveness, and loving others. There’s also a beautiful pro-life message about adoption, giving life and the value of life. Don’t let the PG-13 rating stop you from seeing this movie. The movie’s themes about abortion and pro-life issues are the reason the Hollywood elites are giving LIFEMARK such a tough rating.

Despite Hollywood’s distaste for pro-life, faith-filled stories, LIFEMARK managed to draw a faithful audience.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Kirk Cameron, who stars in the upcoming Kendrick Brothers’ movie LIFEMARK, called out Hollywood for their cowardice in not supporting a movie about “life and adoption.”

Cameron recently told the Daily Wire: “I thought it was amazing. You know, that’s just good old-fashion cowardice. You know, even the so-called faith divisions of studios would rather pass from tens of millions of dollars and support horror, violence, and drag queen movies than risk doing anything that celebrates life.”

Cameron said Hollywood’s apprehensiveness was spurred on by the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“They won’t risk anything that even smells like it,” Cameron said, referring to the topic of abortion. “And they’ll pass up tens of millions of dollars. I just think that that shows there’s not a lot of backbone there.”
