Russell Wilson Is ‘Firm With Love’ When Coaching Stepson

Ciara recently revealed that her son Future has a passion for football, following in the footsteps of his stepdad, Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson.

She shared that, while football comes “really natural for [Future],” the 8 year-old is a talented athlete who plays baseball, basketball, and soccer.

“He’s into all of it and he’s got great coordination,” Ciara said. She also revealed that Wilson has been helping Future improve his football skills.

“He’s all about the details. He’s all about the technique,” she said of her husband. Ciara said that, even though Wilson can be tough on Future, “He’s firm with love though.”

She continued, “He’s all about coming back with love and so it’s beautiful.”

Wilson often incorporates his strong Christian faith on the field and beyond, especially with his family.

Movieguide® previously reported on Ciara and Wilson’s family life:

NFL quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara said they are “grateful” for their three children who provide “non-stop entertainment.”

Russell and Ciara, who were married in 2016, parent 19-month-old son Win Harrison, daughter Sienna Princess, 4, and son Future Zahir, 7, whom Ciara shares with ex Future.

“These kids are funny. Our kids are really hilarious, and obviously the older they get, the more they think they know,” Ciara told People in a recent interview. “They say the third baby kind of moves or learns the quickest because they’re trying to keep up with their siblings, and he’s on it. He’s talking really early, he’s moving, he’s a big baby and he’s really tall, you know?

“They love each other so much, and then they also have what I call a love-fight relationship,” Ciara said of their three children. “They love to fight, but then they love each other so much at the same time, and Russ gets in the mix sometimes. It’s been so much fun. Honestly, it’s been a blessing. You know, we got triple the love now.”

The couple recently announced a new children’s book about their love for their children called “Why Not You?”

“When Ciara and I first met, one of the first things we talked about is if we could do one thing, what would it be?” Wilson said. “We talked about opening up a school. Well, we did that with the Why Not You Academy, and then we also talked about having a book, and so our goals and dreams are being accomplished as we speak.”

Russell said that he wants both the academy and the book to give children a “sense of hope.”

“We always thought that nothing was impossible, and we always tell them the same thing, so they were a part of our mindset and how we wanted to tell that story…. we want kids to have that inspiration and confidence to succeed,” Wilson said.

“It definitely feels like the beginning of so much more in the space, so it’s super exciting,” Ciara added. “There’s a lot of future leaders out there that we want to empower.”

The academy and the book came from Wilson’s nonprofit, Why Not You Foundation.
