Katy Nichole Shares Word of Encouragement With Fans: ‘Your Story Is Not Done’

Christian music artist Katy Nichole recently performed at the Rock the Universe Christian music festival and encouraged fans to find hope in Christ.

“I’ve talked about having scars, and I know what it’s like to have pain. I don’t just sing the songs to sing the songs. I sing the songs because that was how I got through my pain… was by writing songs and talking to Jesus,” Nichole said at the festival, which took place at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, from Jan. 27-28.

Nichole is open about her faith journey, her battle with depression, her scoliosis, and how she relies on Jesus as her hope and strength.

Movieguide® previously reported on Nichole’s rise to stardom, after her TikTok of her singing “In Jesus Name (God of Possible),” reached 80 million views:

A few months after its release, “In Jesus Name” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart and now holds the record for the most weeks at No. 1 for a debut single by a female artist on both Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs (20 weeks) and Christian Airplay charts (nine).

“I felt like my story is pretty messy and broken,” Nichole shared. “But I knew God’s handprints are all over my life.”

Despite her success, Nichole recently revealed that at one point she ‘wanted to give up.’

“I didn’t see the hope; I couldn’t find it,” she said on stage. “I had back surgery, and I was in a lot of pain. After I had the surgery, I just saw no hope. I reached the place where I grabbed a bottle of pills. I took it to the bathroom with me, and somehow, it fell out of my hands onto the floor, and the pills spilled everywhere.”

“In that moment, I heard the Lord say to me, ‘Hold on, I’m not done yet,'” she added.

After months of recovery, Nichole said that a rainbow in the sky gave her hope that God was not done with her story.

“I knew in that moment that the words that I was holding on to, the Lord’s words, were going to take me somewhere beautiful, and I trusted Him in that,” she said.

She continued: “You don’t see hope, you want to give up, and you’re just waiting on those words. And sometimes, the Lord speaks through others to bring you those words. I will bring in those words to hold on because your story is not done yet.”

After a follow-up surgery three years after her initial back surgery, Nichole no longer suffers pain due to scoliosis.
