HACKSAW RIDGE Actor Recalls Era When Culture Centered On God
By Movieguide® Contributor
HACKSAW RIDGE actor Nathaniel Buzolic recently reflected on how far culture has strayed from God after finding an invaluable treasure in an antique book.
“I love buying antique Christian books. I will rummage through stores to find something unique. This particular book was from the 70’s. It’s a commentary on the entire Bible,” Buzolic captioned a photo of a faded newspaper article resting on the pages of an antique book. “When I open its pages often hidden in its midst I find things like this from former owners.”
“This clipping is from an article dated 1973 in the US,” he said. “A time where the newspaper would openly talk about God as If He was the center piece of all life.”
The clipping, titled “Children, God and TV,” has Isaiah 40:18 penciled in the margins. It describes TV commercial lines that children transformed into descriptions of God for a school assignment.
“Somewhere along the road an enemy has come during the night and planted many weeds among the wheat in this nation,” Buzolic continued.
“To those who try to push God out of our schools, communities and government. Remember this; many nations have risen and fallen throughout human history – Yet Our God remains,” the actor wrote. “His word is unchanged and his offer of salvation still stands for those willing to believe and transform.”
He concluded his post, “Repent and believe for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”
Movieguide® reported Kirk Cameron’s comments on the absence of God in schools last year:
“We’re realizing that our kids are actually not being so much educated as they are being indoctrinated and groomed,” Cameron said, instead of “teaching them to love God, to love their family, love their country and the values that made us the strongest, freest most prosperous nation in the world.”
Movieguide® previously reported Buzolic’s hope for his followers:
[Buzolic said], ‘Seek out the face of Christ. For His life death and resurrection is our Hope in the face of a broken world. For it is HOPE that brings comfort, not COMFORT that brings hope. My Hope is in Christ.’
