Vikings’ Camryn Bynum Gives ‘Glory to God’ After Game-Winning Interception

Minnesota Vikings defensive back Camryn Bynum secured the game-winning interception on Prime Time against the San Francisco 49ers.

After the win, Bynum gave all the praise and glory to God.

“First of all, all glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” he declared. “It feels amazing to be able to be out here with my team and come up big in a big-time game.”

The football player shared photos and videos of the game and his ministry work in the Philippines on Instagram. He wrote, “My life changed when I realized that it’s bigger than me.”

Bynum has never shied away from his faith. His Instagram bio proudly declares, “In Jesus’ name I play.”

The defensive back also founded a nonprofit “committed to blessing families in need locally & internationally.”

“Camryn along with his family have always utilized every opportunity to give back to others. Cam’s goal is to use his platform in efforts to provide hope, relief, and resources to struggling communities in the United States of America and in the Philippines. When he learned about all of the Typhoons and natural disasters that take place in the Philippines, the urgency and desire to help the families that have lost everything, including their loved ones could not wait. We were now on a mission to bring faith, love, restore hope and provide resources to the families in the Philippines who have already lost so much,” the organization’s website reads.

The Bynum Faith Foundation centers its work around Philippians 2:3-4, which reads, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.”

Fellow believer and Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins reflected on the game in an interview: “I felt like in the offseason we needed to play our best games against the best defenses. You measure yourself against the best, and when the schedule came out in May, I just looked at Philly, looked at San Fran and a couple others ahead where you say, ‘These are going to be some of the best defenses we play. That’s got to be our best football.'”

He added, “I just challenged the team and said, ‘Understand here it is: This is a challenging group and we’ve got to be at our best. And not just in the big picture, but our best in how we motion, how we handle snap counts, how we prepare the details. We’ve got to be at our absolute best.’ I tried to challenge them from that standpoint. I felt like everybody was up for the challenge.”

“With a pair of Camryn Bynum interceptions on San Francisco’s final two drives, the Vikings stopped the 49ers’ attempts to come back on Monday night, holding on for a 22-17 win and improving to 3-4 for the season,” the Star Tribune reported of Bynum.

Movieguide® previously reported on Cousins:

Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Kirk Cousins revealed how he views his losses as opportunities to thank God on a recent Sports Spectrum podcast.

“I recognize my faith more in a loss,” Cousins said, reflecting on one of his first losses during his college football career. “I think in a win sometimes you start to say ‘I got this. I know what I’m doing. I got this figured out.’”

“It’s the losses where you’re reminded that I don’t know what I’m doing, and I need help, and God’s gonna have to be bigger than my shortcomings and my inadequacies,” he continued.
