Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh Praises God After Win: ‘Glory Where It’s Due’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Outspoken Christian and Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gave God the glory as his team moves closer to the Super Bowl.

On Saturday, the Ravens faced the Houston Texans. The Texans came out hot in the beginning, but in the second half, Baltimore took the game in a 34-10 win over Houston.

After the game, Harbaugh credited God for the win.

“There was something that was sent to me before the game,” Harbaugh told the press. “It just is meaningful to me so I am going to share it with you. Because I think it’s the right thing to do. It’s a verse.”

The coach then read 1 Chronicles 29:11, which says, “Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.

“So, there’s an amazing spirit on this team. And I just want to kind of give honor and glory where it’s due,” he added.

Faith is at the forefront for Harbaugh and the Ravens.

Movieguide® recently reported on Harbaugh, who led his team in the Lord’s prayer:

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is taking his faith to the locker room by leading his team in prayer.

“It is amazing to see this happening in the Ravens locker room. I’m not sure how many NFL teams are doing this, but this is absolutely special,” Christhete wrote on Instagram along with a video of Harbaugh and the Ravens.

The video shows the team take a knee before praying from Matthew 6:9-13: “Thank you, Lord. Our Father, who art in heaven. Hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”

The Ravens will face the Kansas City Chiefs, the reigning Super Bowl Champions, on Jan. 28.

While the Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, haven’t had the season they hoped for, they remain undefeated in the playoffs.

According to USA TODAY, “The path to the AFC championship game was rather simple for the Ravens. After a bye during the wild card round, Lamar Jackson and company went nuts against the Houston Texans to the tune of a 34-10 victory. Baltimore has looked dominant on both offense and defense. The question isn’t whether or not they are good enough to win the Super Bowl, but whether anyone can stop them.”

Meanwhile, “The Chiefs had a much rougher road to where they are today. Their divisional round matchup against the Buffalo Bills came down to the wire, needing a missed kick from Buffalo kicker Tyler Bass, par for the course for a playoff game between those two powerhouses. The road only gets tougher now though. The Ravens have looked like the best team in the NFL for most of the season at this point. The Chiefs will need to turn their efficiency notch up to 11 for any chance of coming out victorious.”
