Victor Marx Says Pray for ‘Folks in the Limelight’ Like Justin, Hailey Bieber

By Movieguide® Contributor

Pastor Victor Marx is reminding people to pray for celebrities like Justin and Hailey Bieber.

In a Tuesday Instagram post later reposted by Hailey’s father, Stephen Baldwin, Marx shared a video of Justin singing “I Can Sing of Your Love Forever.”

“Christians, please when you think of Justin & Hailey, take a moment to offer a little prayer for them to have wisdom, protection and to draw close to the Lord,” read the text on the clip.

Marx and his wife, Eileen, are friends with Hailey’s parents.

“I seldom like to post about certain folks in the limelight because of the negative comments we get,” Marx began. “Eileen and Hailey’s mom pray often together for J&H and our children as well. There are special challenges that folks in high visibility positions face and also the enemy doesn’t want them to draw closer to Jesus. So often regardless of the material things or the accolades they often face spiritual warfare that intense and seeks to ship-wreck their faith, marriage and life in general. So thank you.”

While his post was simply a reminder for Christians to pray for everyone, including those who seem to have it all, the media spun it to suggest that the couple might be struggling.

Because of the “weird press fascination,” Marx took the post down and clarified his intentions.

“So many people believe that if someone’s famous, wealthy, they don’t need prayers. Of course they need prayers,” Marx said.

“And look, [Justin and Hailey] they’re doing great, but we need to lift people up who…express faith in Christ and are in the limelight,” he explained.

The Biebers have been open about their faith in the past, and Hailey said their belief in God is the foundation of their marriage.

“Being able to share that with each other—to have that bond of faith and spirituality—is so [critical] for us. It’s the most important part of our relationship, following Jesus together, being a part of the church community together. It’s everything,’” she told ELLE.

Movieguide® previously reported on Justin’s faith:

As pop star Justin Bieber anticipates the release of his new album, “Justice,” the outspoken Christian wants to use his music to share his testimony and “inspire” his fans.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Bieber said that faith helped him come to peace with his controversial past as a young star.

“I just want to be somebody who can say, ‘Look, I did some things that I’m not too proud of, but I took a look in the mirror and decided to make some changes, and you can too,’” Beiber said.

Beiber is thankful for the many blessings God has given him and now recognizes as he lives his life for Christ. Bieber said that the best gift by far is “That I’m forgiven.”
