Actresses Celebrate Raising Little Kids: ‘Divine, Precious Hours’

By Movieguide® Contributor

One of the joys of being a mother is seeing your kids grow up.

Actresses Christina Applegate, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Edie Falco are celebrating raising little kids and reflected on what it looks like to transition into new stages of parenthood.

In an episode of the “MeSsy” podcast, Sigler said that although she is exiting the little kid years soon – she has two boys, Jack, 5, and Beau, 10 – she is still “holding on to all the little baby things.”

Two of those things include the fact that Jack just lost his first tooth and his hands haven’t formed knuckles yet.

Falco, mom to Anderson, 19, and Macy, 16, added, “Early parenting stuff is madness, but it’s some of the most divine, precious hours of my life. When they both fall asleep on you when you’re watching TV and it’s quiet and you realize, ‘Oh my God I didn’t know I could feel this love.’ And then they’re just gone forever and ever, and they’re just memories and are all over your iPhone!”

Applegate joked, saying, “I told Sadie [13] when she goes to college, wherever it is, I’ll be moving in with her. I highly encourage Los Angeles-based universities. I’m like, ‘Why would you live in a dorm when we have our nice house?’ I’m doing everything I can to make her stay here.”

Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a few years ago and shared with PEOPLE how it’s affected her parenting.

“She’s had to see the loss of her mom, in the way that I was a mom with her,” she said. “Dancing with her every day. Picking her up from school every day. Working at her school, working in the library. Being present out of the house, out of my bed. She doesn’t see those things anymore. This is a loss for her as well. And we’re both learning as we’re going along.”

MS is something she and Sigler are diving into on their “MeSsy” podcast.

“As human beings, we all are given things in life that test our strength, can crush our spirit and with enough support can make you ask the question why? I hope you’ll join us on our journey of figuring out how to trust what’s been given, accept our circumstances and still love ourselves and life enough to push on!” Sigler wrote.

Movieguide® previously reported:

When Christina Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, a friend told her she should reach out to actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

The DEAD TO ME star is glad she did.

“Sigler had been living with the disease for two decades, so when Applegate got in touch, THE SOPRANOS actress, who lives in Austin, was ready to help,” PEOPLE reported

Sigler told PEOPLE, “MS brought us together,” and “I wanted to give her tools and things that I’ve learned that have helped me.”

They get along splendidly because they “haven’t stopped talking since,” Applegate said.

“The way that Christina disarms me and allows me to talk about the hard stuff, I needed desperately,” Sigler said.
