Reba McEntire is set to host the 2024 Academy Country Music Awards tomorrow, her 17th time emceeing the event.
In addition to hosting, McEntire will perform her new single, “I Can’t,” and said it will be “a big production.”
“I just saw my outfit yesterday. It’s absolutely gorgeous. I can’t wait to have it,” she told GOOD MORNING AMERICA. “So, I’m really excited about it.”
“I Can’t” is “a very strong woman song,” she explained.
The lyrics read:
I’ve got the thunder in my bones, I’ve got the trouble in my soul
Drowning in tears my eyes were too proud to cry
I hear you knockin’ at my door, but I can’t open it no more
‘Cause this heart’s half full of rain and risin’ high
Sometimes all that you can do is just surviveI can’t row you across right now
I can’t row you across right now
I’m too busy building a bridge
I can’t throw you a line right now
I can’t throw you a line right now
I’m too busy tryin’ to live
“It’s a little different from anything I’ve done in a while,” McEntire said of her new single. “So I hope everybody enjoys it.”
McEntire plans to continue to release new music, but the type of music could vary.
She said it is always “something different that will grab my heart, because if I love it and it touches my heart when I sing it and I do my job right, it’ll touch your heart.”
Despite her 30-year career, McEntire is still going strong. She has new music on the way, is hosting the ACM awards and will star in a new comedy sitcom HAPPY’S PLACE.
Movieguide® reported:
Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman are reuniting for a new sitcom.
The pair previously starred in REBA together. Now, they are set to work alongside each other in a still-unnamed NBC pilot.
“The pilot follows Bobbie (McEntire) who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had,” Deadline reported. “Peterman will portray Gabby, a bartender who has worked at the tavern for quite some time. She is a bit needy and dramatic and would have loved to be Bobbie’s sister.”
