CeCe Winans’s biggest regret from motherhood is going through the motions instead of stopping and seeking God.
“Probably one of my only regrets in raising my kids, I did not consult the Holy Spirit enough on each one,” the mom of two said in an episode of BETTER TOGETHER TV on TBN. “I mean, you kind of just do the general, we’re doing this, we’re going to church… and praise God, his mercy and grace has covered us…but when you look back, it’s like, man, if I would’ve just took out time and said Holy Spirit, what should I do here?”
“What do they need? What are you calling them to be?” she continued. “Because when you invite him in, he comes in. But you’ve got to invite him in.”
She explained that a mom’s role is a busy one, but it’s important to slow down and seek God.
“To me, it was…it’s not an option in my life. Not if I want to keep peace. Not if I want to have hope,” she said.
She noted the devil comes to steal and destroy constantly — every day — and you can’t forget that.
“So we can’t allow even motherhood to get in the way of our time with the Lord,” the “Goodness of God” singer said.
Winans previously shared one of the most important lessons she learned from her mom — how to live a life “louder than words.”
She told her mom, “When I look at the peace that you carry, the calm that you carry even in the roughest of times, that speaks volumes. So, I would say the best lesson that you’ve taught me is to live a life that speaks louder than words.”
Winans’ daughter, Ashley Phillips, previously expressed her appreciation for Winans.
She told her on social media, “I love and appreciate you more than words can express. Proud to call you mom! 🥳😘”

CeCe Winans presented her “Generations Live” conference in Nashville this year on Mother’s Day weekend. She sang and shared the gospel with many attendees. Other guests included Priscilla Shirer, Jackie Hill Perry, Ashley Phillips and other faith-filled women.

As moms, lets remember to ask the Holy Spirit as we raise our kids. It will make all the difference.
