BLUE BLOODS fans are in for a treat with spin-off BOSTON BLUE’s premiere. Star Bridget Moynahan is confirmed to reprise her role as Erin Reagan — and take on an exciting behind-the-scenes role, as well!
“Reunited and it feels so good!” Donnie Wahlberg posted on Instagram, along with a selfie of the co-stars. “So excited to have my dear friend, and TV sister @bridgetmoynahan, join me for a special guest appearance in the premiere episode of #BostonBlue!”
He added, “She’ll also be bringing her incredible directing talents to the show this season! More fun (and surprises) to come. Let’s go!”
Moynahan commented on the post, writing, “So excited to be part of this old and new family!!!”
BOSTON BLUE follows Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan “as he takes a position with Boston PD,” per the show’s official logline. “Once in Boston, he is paired with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.”
Other confirmed cast members include Ernie Hudson, Maggie Lawson, Gloria Reuben, Mika Amonsen and Marcus Scribner.

Moynahan is the only confirmed BLUE BLOODS star to make an appearance in the spin-off, but Wahlberg has teased more potential cameos from his former co-stars, telling Parade, “New York and Boston are really close. They’re not that far apart.”
“It’s just Danny going to this new world, but I can’t say a lot about it — but I could say, if he’s a Reagan, it will never be just Danny,” the actor told Fox News. “There’ll always be a Reagan a phone call away. And the traditions that the Reagans have, Danny wouldn’t abandon those traditions.”
Wahlberg discussed how BOSTON BLUE will reintroduce Danny to audiences, telling Parade, “It’s going to be a journey and a process for him.”
“He’s with the audience who says, ‘I can’t imagine Danny would move to Boston,’ well, neither can he. He’s with you,” he continued. “He’s going to have to figure this out because it’s a dramatic life change.”
Wahlberg shared that “it’s really fun letting Danny be a fish out of water,” but said it was also important that the BOSTON BLUE team “remember where he comes from and what the BLUE BLOODS legacy is. We’re keeping all of that at the forefront of our thoughts as we build this thing.”
BLUE BLOODS fans are excited to hear that Moynahan will be joining Wahlberg on the set of BOSTON BLUE — and can’t wait to see which other members of the Reagan family might show up in the spin-off!
