Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson doesn’t just play football because he’s good at it; he plays “to show the gifts that God’s given me.”

The Falcons beat the Washington Commanders on Sunday, 34-27, thanks in large part to Robinson’s performance. The running back ended the day with a “career-high 181 yards from scrimmage (75 rushing and a career-high 106 receiving) and also contributed a second-quarter rushing touchdown from 14 yards out,” according to Sports Spectrum.

After the game, Robinson told reporters, “I’ll be an overall all-around player. Do it in the run game. Do it in the pass game. That’s why I’m here — to show the gifts that God’s given me on both sides, from running routes being a receiver to being a running back. That’s what I like to do. It only helps this offense; it only helps this team.”

Robinson and his team want to reach the playoffs this season.

“We just gotta continue to stay humble, continue to stay consistent, never get too big of a head,” he told the press, “because you obviously see what can happen when you get too big of a head: you lose by 30, just like that. So, that’s my job to keep this offense down here and never get up here, because as soon as you start hearing all the worship and all the praise from other people, that’s when you get beat.”

Robinson keeps his faith the center of his life and is not ashamed to show it.

“I wouldn’t be here without God,” he said in a video for the Falcons last year. “[Faith is] the biggest part of my life. I put these Sunday messages out. I always go back to that because there’s so many people who just want a word of, not just like me speaking about Jesus and who He is and how He can affect and change your life, but it’s a positive message at the end of the day.”

“I do all the things that is necessary for me to continue my relationship with God,” he continued. “Even after games, in postgame interviews, I never go without saying ‘God first’…I play for Him. I play for God. I do everything in my life for God, so He’ll only continue to keep blessing you. My faith is my biggest thing.”

The Falcons have a bye week this week but will return to the field for MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL on Oct. 13 at home against the undefeated Buffalo Bills. Robinson hopes to keep his momentum rolling and secure another big game for the Falcons.
